Maritime

Maritime sector plays a very important role in Turkey’s globalization and integration.

Approximately 90% of Turkey’s import and export shipments are being done by sea. Turkish maritime industry has the significant advantages of its geographical location, its being a bridge between Europe and Asia, geostrategic positioning at the intersection of international sea transportation routes and its 8333 km coastline.

The maritime sector, which is very dynamic in nature, has seen many recent changes like it has never seen in the past and is creating global impact.

With the Turkish International Ship Registry Act (briefly known as TUGS in Turkish) entering into force on December 21, 1999, the management procedures of shipping companies have undergone a lot of very important changes leading to a significant decrease in the obligations of companies and employees.
