Chemical Industry

The chemical sector is one of the building blocks of the Turkish industry. This is a sector that provides large amounts of inputs to many industrial branches such as automotive, leather products, glass, textiles and paper products.

The chemical industry - which encompasses quite a wide range of products - produces not only consumer goods such as cleaning products, paints, cosmetics and medicines but also fertilizers and pesticides for the agricultural sector, organic and inorganic chemicals, dyes, laboratory chemicals, thermoplastics, and similar products needed by the manufacturing industry which is also under the chemical industry.

Petrochemical production in Turkey began in the year 1970. 25 % of Turkey's petrochemical needs are met by Petkim Petrochemical Holding A.Ş. with its domestic production.
